“101 Techno-Rave Killers!” Playlist by Richard F. Yates

This list represents my favorite dance cuts from the last few decades, songs that I either heard at raves, dance clubs, or warehouse parties, or wished that I had. The list focuses on the 1990s, primarily because that’s when techno was defined, and these are most of the songs that helped define it! I’ve also included some pre-techno cuts that helped pave the way, and some of the more modern EDM artists who, in my opinion, have kept the RAVE alive. There are one or two missing cuts (specifically tracks by The Movement, Lil’ Louie, and Alpha Team,) pulled primarily so this list doesn’t get flagged as “Adult Content,” but despite a few missing tunes, it’s a fair encapsulation of my favorite party cuts of all time. Get ready to hear early acid-house, Belgian hard techno, British breakbeat, West Coast trance…with some stops at trip hop, ragga techno, pop remixes, and some other, super-freaky stuff along the way.
